My Resume
I grew up on a farm outside Buffalo Center, IA. In 2006 I received my bachelor's degree in Social Science Education, with emphases in American history, American government, and geography. During my college years I worked a variety of jobs, including an internship in the US Senate and working with educational programming and managing artifact collections at the UNI Museums in Cedar Falls. I’ve spent the past 8 years teaching at Tripoli, IA, and at North Iowa in Buffalo Center, IA. My boyfriend proposed last spring, and since you can’t move farmland, I’ve moved to Waverly!
My Interests
My favorite teaching subjects are: the Cold War, the Civil War, the American Revolution (the ideas, not the war), Latin American culture, ancient Egypt, world religions, lifestyles in the Victorian era...etc. Basically, I announce before almost every unit, "Okay, folks, this is one of my favorite units!"
When I'm off the clock, you'll find me spending time with my husband, doing crossword puzzles, reading, seeing movies, eating lovely foods, and "aunting" my ten very intelligent and charming nieces & nephews. When the clock doesn't exist (read: summer break), I absolutely love traveling to see new places and visiting family & old friends; I also like to garden, although when traveling increases, the garden resembles a jungle. And as my former students will tell you, I spend way too much time watching documentaries, buying dresses, and being a nerd. :-)
